Pamela J. Thorton-Hinton known to many as “Granny Pam” was born April 24, 1955 to Mr. Austin Peter Townes and Della Ruth Thornton-Grayson in Hattiesburg, MS.
Pamela was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Pastor C.E. Lewis. She attended Hattiesburg Public Schools. She was employed by the University of Southern Miss until 1975 and also worked as a school crossing guard for the City of Hattiesburg.
Pamela is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Iris Thorton.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and dedicated husband, James Printess Hinton Jr. whom she was married to for 45 blessed years; her children, Douglas Thorton-Lindsey, Stephanie Miller-Bridges, James Printess Hinton III, Quida Q. Thorton, Iris A. Hinton, Cederic G. Hinton, Jr., Sakeitra Travis, Elanna Lindsey and Chansa Lenoir; her grandchildren, Paradyce Betts, Laila Lindsey, Marcus Lindsey, Amauri Lindsey, Jaia Hinton, Khloe Hinton, Noland Ellis, Deleon Hamilton, Meoshia Travis Hayes, Bridgette Travis, Isis Hazley, Shantrel Travis, Jamarkis Cunningham, Kendall Walker, Tarah Newsome, Madison Newsome, Paige Newsome, Chandler Newsome, Jessica Williams and Angel Barnes; four great-grandchildren, Atticus, Kaicen, Kinleigh and Ezra (Banana Baby); three brothers, Stanley Thorton, Cederic Hinton, Sr. and Brian Grayson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
