Linda Houze

Linda Faye Jackson Houze was born on August 23, 1950, to the late Sam Scott and Lillian C. Jackson Scott. She departed this life on January 2, 2026.

At an early age, Linda gave her life to God and joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Later in life, she became a member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church. She attended Hattiesburg Public Schools and was a proud member of the Class of 1968.

In 1970, Linda was united in matrimony to Billy Houze. Their union of 20 years was blessed with three children. She was employed at The University of Southern Mississippi until her retirement in 1985.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lillian Scott; four brothers, Henry T. Thompson, Archie Jackson, Jr., Willie James Jackson, and Sandris Eugene Jackson; and two sisters, Carolyn Sue Hayes and Peggy Joyce Hinton.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory three children: Lecia (Ed) Houze Holmes of Hattiesburg, MS; Derick J. (Tamara) Houze of Dallas, TX; and Christopher J. (Jackie) Houze of Hattiesburg, MS. She is also survived by three sisters: Julianne Thompson Jackson of Hattiesburg, MS; Bertha Jeanette Frank of Columbus, GA; and Aretha Renee Magee (sister/niece); one brother, Donnie Ray Jackson; her granddaughter, Candice Calloway; and a host of grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
