Darlena Ann Adcox, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Born on June 29, 1964, in Lagrange, Illinois, Darlena was a beacon of love and warmth in the lives of her family and all who knew her.
Darlena dedicated her life to her family, holding them dear to her heart. Her most profound joy came from being a grandmother. She found immense happiness in nurturing and supporting her grandchildren, ensuring each moment spent with them was filled with laughter and love. Her grandchildren—Braleigh Moran, JJ Moran, Brooklyn Moran, Katie Pearson, Emma Pearson, Abbigail Pearson, and Valerie Dematteo—were her pride and joy, and she cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.
Darlena was also a devoted mother to her three daughters: Brandie “Jason” Moran, Jenny “Ethan” Pearson, and Bethany Adcox. She embraced motherhood with grace and devotion, always offering a guiding hand and a listening ear.
Darlena had a vibrant personality and enjoyed spending her leisure time watching television, particularly the series Chicago PD, which she loved. She was also an ardent football fan, often cheering enthusiastically for the New Orleans Saints, and could be heard joyously proclaiming, “Go Saints!” as she rooted for her team.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joyce Spradley; her father, Floyd Wiles; her brothers, James Gale Wiles and Don Allen Larue; and her stepfather, Buddy Shackleford. Though they are no longer with her, their memories and teachings lived on through Darlena’s love and dedication to her family.
Darlena Ann Adcox will be remembered for her unwavering love, infectious laughter, and the light she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy of family devotion and joy will continue to inspire and uplift her loved ones.
